Chapter 3720: Too Naive

Chapter 3720: Too Naive

Chapter 3720: Too Naive

As for the remaining conscients, what could they possibly hope to accomplish?

Even if all of them united to fight together,

Boundless

would still be able to leave. Besides which, it was impossible for conscients to ever truly unite.

“Why attack Xi Wen? You are from the Tianyuan Megaverse. Shouldn’t you work with us to defeat the High Seraph?” Old Chief demanded as he glared at Lu Yin.

Lu Yin shot the Luminary a cold glance. “Give me the Lower Heaven’s Blade in exchange for Xi Wen.”

Yong Heng had been prepared to reveal Lu Yin’s secret of being able to Possess conscients. If Lu Yin did not act at this moment, then when?

Gui Shaoqing’s only value had been used a moment earlier.

Old Chief started to speak up when Everstone suddenly blasted the trap apart, releasing the High Seraph.

The ancient conscient’s face fell. “Retreat!”

Without Xi Wen, the conscients were completely incapable of restraining the High Seraph.

Lu Yin was ready to attack Yong Heng again when, far away, the meteorit smashed through Second Gu’s body. The stone suddenly became monstrously powerful, and it blasted Sovereign Dou Sheng, Wilderness God, and all the others back. They each coughed up blood.

Startled, Lu Yin used the wooden wing to instantly move over to the meteorite. His body grew withered as he shrouded himself with Wielder - God battle force and punched at the rock.

The meteorite rammed forward.

Boom!

The Willbound Expanse quaked as the terrifying impact sent shockwaves sweeping out in every direction, frightening all of the hidden conscients into fleeing. None of them dared to remain behind.

Lu Yin staggered back, startled. Had he actually been overpowered?

Even when the High Seraph had overpowered Lu Yin, he had only done so by borrowing the power of the universe. Where had a meteorite gathered such frightening power?

Lu Yin stared at the meteorite. At its center, the solitary eye had a wild and irrational look as it shot at Lu Yin once again.

However, this time, it suddenly grew dramatically weaker, and a single hand was enough to simply swat the rock away.

The Origin Progenitor was still attacking Yong Heng as the man looked over at the High Seraph. “Work with me. All of your people from the Spirit Nidus have been captured. If you fail to take them back, you’ll be as good as a stray dog.”

The High Seraph looked out from the Willbound Expanse, and his face fell. “That’s just what I was thinking.”

The Origin Progenitor let out a long breath. The most difficult battle was about to begin.

In order to break the current stalemate, a brutal battle was inevitable. Whatever mistrust or hostility lay between the High Seraph and Yong Heng paled before their dread of Lu Yin and the power the Tianyuan Megaverse had revealed.

This battle had become inevitable the moment the Spirit Nidus cultivators had been captured.

Lu Yin returned to the Origin Progenitor’s side, and he looked over at the High Seraph. As their eyes met, Lu Yin raised a hand in the direction of the Spirit Nidus’s five remaining battleships that lay outside of the Broken Realm. “Whether they live or die will be decided at my whim.”

Yong Heng laughed. “Lord Lu, surely you can’t believe that Mo Shang actually cares about those people’s lives, right?

“Most cultivators are ruthless. There are very few like you who are willing to shoulder the fate of a megaverse. Besides-” His expression turned hard. “You can’t do it.”

Killing all of the people on the battleships would take time, and that would be enough for the High Seraph and Yong Heng to strike.

Lu Yin slowly smiled. He completely ignored Yong Heng while remaining focused on the High Seraph. “You don’t think I can?”

He snapped his fingers, and one of the battleships instantly exploded. There was nothing but shrapnel left, which blew Yong Heng away.

The High Seraph’s eyes narrowed, and killing intent ignited within them.

The destroyed battleship was the same one that had been nearly destroyed by the meteorite. It had already been rendered useless, and the Origin Progenitor and the others had overseen everyone on the vessel be evacuated.

“There weren’t many aboard. That was just a warning. Mo Shang, if you move against me again, the next one will be different.

“Did I mention that I placed timed micro-arrays on every last one of your universe-class battleships? Each array is essentially a spirit treasure formation weapon that I can detonate at will, and each one is as powerful as a Spirit Ancestor’s full-power attack. If your peak powerhouses on those ships could take action, those micro-arrays wouldn’t matter, as they are easily removed. However, all of those experts have already been captured.

“Whenever any of those battleships explodes, everyone on it will die.”

The High Seraph’s expression remained calm. “Do you think I care whether those people live or die?”

Lu Yin shook his head. “I don’t know, so why don’t we find out? I certainly don’t care.”

Yong Heng chuckled. “Child, you’ve changed. You were never this ruthless before.”

Lu Yin met Yong Heng’s gaze. “You forced me to change. Since the Spirit Nidus doesn’t care about whether anyone in my megaverse lives or dies and simply wants to reset our megaverse, I can’t care about whether their cultivators live or die. If these people die, the Spirit Nidus will lose an entire era of cultivators. Can they bear such a loss?”

The High Seraph spoke up. “I won’t kill you.”

Lu Yin turned to look at the man, and the High Seraph suddenly charged. “But everyone else on

Boundless

will die! Every last one will be buried with you.”

Yong Heng let out a roar of laughter. “Child, you underestimate Mo Shang’s resolve! It’s only one era’s worth of cultivators. With the Nine Odysseys Megaverse around, so what if an era of the Spirit Nidus is lost? The Consciousness Megaverse won’t be able to do anything.”

When Lu Yin was in the Wisdom Domain, Old Yu had claimed that the Spirit Nidus had delayed resetting the Consciousness Megaverse because it had been waiting for their civilization to reach its peak so that resetting a megaverse would bring about a complete transformation. The old man had said that he wanted to avoid fighting with

Boundless

because the Spirit Nidus could not bear to lose all of the top experts of an entire era.

That had all been a lie. Old Yu had kept the Nine Odysseys Megaverse a secret from Lu Yin.

With the existence of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse having been revealed, it had become clear that the Spirit Nidus was not the one to decide whether the Consciousness Megaverse could be reset. They would not dare to risk being attacked by the megaverse above them.

The High Seraph was in front of Lu Yin while Yong Heng was behind him. True God charged at both Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor.

Lu Yin clenched a fist while focusing on the High Seraph before him. Suddenly, he fell back, and the Origin Progenitor retreated with him.

As the two men fell back, the High Seraph spun around and stabbed a finger forward, releasing an endless, brilliant light. Everlasting Will was unleashed, and it targeted Yong Heng.

Yong Heng stared in shock as he was abruptly attacked by the High Seraph. Right as True God attempted to dodge the attack, Everlasting Will pierced his body. It did not move through time or space, instead instantly appearing. It was so quick that not even Yong Heng was able to evade, and he was skewered.

The brilliant beam of light speared Yong Heng like a thread stretching into the distance; one end was held by the High Seraph, and the other was connected to Lan Huifeng.

Far away, Lan Huifeng maintained the same pose, pointing a finger back at the High Seraph.

Yong Heng looked down at the wound in utter disbelief. “W- why?”

While in the Willbound Spire, Yong Heng had known that the High Seraph had been plotting against Lu Yin, which was precisely the reason why a four-way balance had appeared. However, after they emerged, after learning that the people of the Spirit Nidus were being held captive by Lu Yin’s people, the man had continued to plot against Lu Yin. At worst, he would agree to spare Lu Yin’s life, but he would never allow the people of the Tianyuan Megaverse to go free.

On top of that, Yong Heng had revealed the fact that Lu Yin could control other creatures.

If the High Seraph had any sense at all, he would have never spared Lu Yin.

Yong Heng and the High Seraph were indeed enemies, but their enmity was not so severe that only one of them could live. Once, they had even cooperated to overthrow the ancient Heavens Sect. The High Seraph had been targeting Yong Heng out of fear of the man, not principles or a genuine grudge.

Yong Heng had never imagined that the High Seraph would attack him at this moment.

It was a complete surprise.

The High Seraph’s fingertip still glowed with his Everlasting Will, and the light shone upon Yong Heng. “

Boundless

is indeed a threat, but you are no less of one.

“You are the one who rescued Hua Manyi. You allowed Ru Guo to escape. You worked with Lu Yin against Yue Ya, baiting the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. All of that was you, Yong Heng. You have long since known of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and made plans of your own. I may not know what you seek, but you pose far too great a threat.”

Yong Heng showed a wry smile as his eyes slid past the High Seraph to Lu Yin.

The young man appeared to be perfectly calm and utterly unsurprised.

Yong Heng chuckled. “Well played, Lord Lu. Just how many crimes have you pinned on me?”

Lu Yin spoke in a low voice. “You’ve underestimated Mo Shang. Did you really think that he wouldn’t care about the lives of those on the battleships?”

Yong Heng’s eyes flickered, and he suddenly looked back at the High Seraph.

So that’s it. I overlooked it

.

Mo Shang certainly did care about the lives of those on the battleships, but that was because he had to.

The High Seraph frowned, and Dominion’s Mantle enveloped Yong Heng. Lu Yin’s words had served as a reminder that this man could not continue to live.

Since you’ve completely rebuilt yourself with a mirebound artifact spirit seed, I’ll see you dead.

Yong Heng mocked himself. “I’ve lived for so long, and yet my thoughts still can only keep up with yours, a brat of just a few centuries. Lu Yin, you really did keep a trump card hidden.

“Dao Convergence.”

Yong Heng unleashed his sequence particles, using the Law of Dao Convergence.

Everlasting Will was instantly broken.

The High Seraph’s eyes narrowed, and flames rained down from Dominion’s Mantle to fill the sky. Blue stripes appeared on Yong Heng’s back, and the nearby space condensed into a blue gem that he grabbed and instantly swallowed.

Lu Yin cried out in shock, “Eight-Star Garan?”

The Origin Progenitor was equally astonished.

At this moment, they all remembered Yong Heng’s innate gift was bone grafting. Earlier, by some unknown means, he had turned a wound into a weapon, absorbing and blocking a strike from the Origin Progenitor and using it to heal himself. This time, he unleashed the Eight-Star Garan.

No one knew just how many abilities a bone grafter had kept hidden.

Eight-Star Garan was an innate gift of spatial memory. It was able to replicate any attack that had ever appeared within the same space as the person using the innate gift.

Yong Heng waved a hand, and the light of Everlasting Will blazed, dazzling and hot as it sliced across the sky, ignoring both time and distance to reach its target and pierce the High Seraph’s body.

Mo Shang’s pupils shrank as he looked down.

Everlasting Will?

He had never dreamed that he would be struck by his own transcended sequence one day.

How could such an innate gift exist?

Not a single one of the Three Realms and Six Daos had been a simple individual. The Tianyuan Megaverse’s potential vastly surpassed the Spirit Nidus’s, so there should be no surprise regardless of what sort of person or innate gift arose from that megaverse.

While Garan Zhiluo was merely a sequence powerhouse, her innate gift was still capable of allowing a weakling to overcome almost any odds.

Sovereign Shao Yin had once wielded the power of Eight-Star Garan, using it as his trump card.

Yong Heng avoided Dominion’s Mantle’s flames as red lanterns appeared around him, only to be destroyed the moment they appeared. He remained focused on the place where Everlasting Will had struck the High Seraph, as the attack had not actually stabbed the man. While Everlasting Will was the High Seraph’s own power, the attack still should have pierced his body. The High Seraph’s physical might was nowhere close to Yong Heng’s. The only explanation was the wooden wing.

Yes, the wooden wing.

The wooden wing that Lu Yin had used was currently in front of the High Seraph, having blocked Yong Heng’s blow.

Not only was Yong Heng unable to comprehend what had just happened, Lu Yin was also stupefied from shock. His hand was suddenly empty. When had the High Seraph taken his wooden wing?

The High Seraph looked down as the wooden wing cracked and fell apart. He offered no explanation as Dominion’s Mantle fell. The man was determined to incinerate Yong Heng.

The Origin Progenitor attacked, weapons flying out from his Verdant Arsenal to attack Yong Heng. Lu Yin also attacked. This was no moment to ask questions. Besides, Lu Yin already understood; the High Seraph had tampered with the wooden wing.

Yi Shang had used the mirebound artifact more than once, and it was possible that the High Seraph had targeted the treasure from its very first use. Lu Yin had merely assumed that High Seraph was ignorant of the mirebound artifact, and learning otherwise only served to greatly increase his wariness of the man.
